Sylva 9 Light Crystal Island Chandelier - Chrome

The Sylva is an 87cm island chandelier built around nine G9 bulb holders arranged along a linear chrome frame, surrounded by two tiers of faceted crystal prisms that hang from the structure on fine wires. The rectangular chrome canopy measures approximately 50cm long and mounts flush to the ceiling, with adjustable suspension cables allowing the fitting to be positioned 600-900mm above a worktop or table depending on ceiling height.

Designed specifically for kitchen islands, long dining tables and reception counters, the Sylva provides both task lighting and decorative presence across a 2-3m surface length. The nine G9 bulbs (sold separately, max 33W total) sit within the crystal arrangement rather than below it, so light refracts through the faceted prisms before reaching the surface below. This creates a wash of refracted light across the table or worktop rather than nine separate pools.

Each crystal prism is precision-cut with multiple facets that catch light from different angles as you move around the room. The chrome frame and suspension wires maintain a minimal profile so the crystal arrangement appears to float rather than hang heavily. At 6.9kg the fitting requires a secure ceiling fixing and is typically installed during kitchen or dining room fit-out rather than as a retrofit to lightweight plasterboard ceilings without reinforcement.

The chrome finish pairs with stainless steel appliances, polished worktops and contemporary kitchens where metal accents are already present. The crystal configuration works in both high-gloss modern interiors where it amplifies reflections, and in more traditional dining rooms where the linear form keeps the decorative detail controlled rather than cascading.

What bulbs does it take?

The Sylva takes nine G9 capsule bulbs with a maximum combined wattage of 33W. Most users fit 3W or 4W G9 LED bulbs in warm white (2700K-3000K) to keep within the limit while providing sufficient light across a dining table or island. Bulbs are sold separately.

What length island or table does it suit?

The 87cm length works best over kitchen islands or dining tables between 2m and 3m long. For shorter tables the fitting may dominate; for tables over 3m consider pairing two Sylva fittings end-to-end or choosing a longer chandelier design.

Is it dimmable?

Dimming depends on the G9 bulbs you fit. Most dimmable G9 LED bulbs work with trailing-edge dimmers, but compatibility varies by bulb manufacturer. Check the bulb specification before pairing with a dimmer switch.

How is the crystal cleaned?

Switch off the power and allow bulbs to cool. Wipe each crystal prism with a dry microfibre cloth. For stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable. Do not spray glass cleaner directly onto the fitting as it may drip onto electrical components.
