Description

The Rutland is a 45cm table hurricane built around a hammered clear glass cylinder, an antique gold iron stem with a circular ring detail, and a natural brown marble base. The glass sits in a metal collar at the top of the stem, and the entire structure stands on a flat circular marble plinth approximately 11.5cm in diameter. Designed to hold pillar candles up to approximately 11cm in diameter, the hurricane keeps the flame protected while the hammered texture in the glass creates moving light patterns as the candle burns.

The Rutland suits dining tables, console tables, mantels and sideboards where candlelight is used for ambient lighting or centrepiece styling. The 45cm height sits comfortably on most furniture without blocking sightlines across a dining table, while the marble base provides stability on polished surfaces. The antique gold finish on the iron stem has a warm, slightly aged tone that pairs with both warm wood furniture and neutral-toned interiors.

The natural brown marble base shows different veining and tonal variation between individual pieces, as the stone is cut from natural quarried blocks. The iron stem has a hand-finished antique gold patina with subtle tonal variation in the recesses around the circular ring detail. What size candle does it hold?

The glass cylinder is approximately 11.5cm in diameter, so pillar candles up to around 11cm diameter and 15-20cm height will fit comfortably inside the hurricane. Standard pillar candles sold as 10cm x 15cm or 10cm x 20cm work well.

Does the marble base vary between pieces?

Yes. Each base is cut from natural brown marble, so the veining pattern, tonal variation and exact shade differ between individual hurricanes. This is a characteristic of the natural material.

Can the glass be removed for cleaning?

The glass cylinder lifts out of the metal collar at the top of the stem, allowing the inside to be cleaned of candle wax and soot residue. The hammered exterior can be wiped with a damp cloth.

What other heights are available?

The Rutland hurricane is available in four heights: 39cm, 45cm, 92cm and 108cm. The taller 92cm and 108cm versions are designed for floor-standing use or large console tables, while the 39cm and 45cm versions suit tabletop and mantel placements.
