Description

The QTX 80cm disco ball is a professional mirror ball built around a lightweight polyethylene core covered in 7mm square mirrored glass tiles. Two metal hanging loops on top provide dual-point suspension for safety rigging in venues where the ball is hung above occupied areas. At 800mm diameter and 20kg weight, the ball produces dense reflections across mid-to-large spaces when struck by pin spots or moving heads.

Designed for nightclubs, ballrooms, theatre productions and events rigging, the QTX ball suits ceiling heights of 3.5m or higher where the 800mm diameter can rotate without obstruction. The 7mm tile size creates a tighter grid of reflections than larger 10mm tiles, giving a denser sparkle effect when lit by narrow-beam pin spots. The dual hanging points allow the ball to be rigged from two ceiling fixings or a single swivel with a bridle, distributing load across two attachment points.

The polyethylene core reduces weight compared to polystyrene or foam-filled alternatives, making the 20kg mass easier to rig on standard truss or ceiling fixing hardware without additional structural support in most venues. Each mirrored tile is hand-applied to the core, so minor gaps or alignment variation between tiles is normal in production mirror balls. The polished surface of each 7mm tile reflects sharp pin spot beams across walls, ceilings and floors when the ball rotates on a motor.

Frequently Asked

What ceiling height is needed for an 80cm disco ball?

A minimum ceiling height of 3.5m is recommended to allow the 800mm ball to hang and rotate without risk of contact with guests or furniture below. Higher ceilings of 4-5m give better reflection spread across the room.

Can this ball be used with a motor?

Yes. The dual hanging loops accommodate standard mirror ball motors with a bridle or single-point swivel attachment. The 20kg weight suits most professional mirror ball motors rated for 20kg or higher load capacity.

What size tiles does it use?

The QTX 80cm ball uses 7mm square mirrored glass tiles. This smaller tile size creates a denser grid of reflections compared to 10mm tiles, giving a tighter sparkle pattern when lit by pin spots or moving heads.

How is the ball rigged safely?

The dual hanging loops on top allow the ball to be rigged from two ceiling fixings or a single motor with a bridle that splits the load across both loops. Always use rated rigging hardware and attach to structural ceiling points, not plasterboard or suspended ceiling tiles.
