Description

The PowerMaster microwave sensor is a ceiling or wall-mounted motion detection unit for controlling lighting in commercial, industrial and high-bay spaces. The sensor offers four sensitivity levels (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%) selectable via six-position DIP switches on the unit's top panel, along with eight configurable hold times ranging from 5 seconds to 30 minutes.

Designed for warehouses, workshops, storage areas and retail back-of-house spaces where lighting should activate only when needed, the sensor detects movement using microwave frequency rather than passive infrared. This allows detection through non-metallic materials and reduces false triggers from ambient temperature changes. The detection range varies by mounting height and movement speed: ceiling installations up to 3m height provide approximately 8m detection radius, while wall mounting provides approximately 4m detection radius for horizontal movement.

The white ABS housing measures approximately 90mm x 50mm x 35mm and includes knock-out cable entry points on both ends. The unit accepts mains voltage input and switches the lighting load directly, eliminating the need for an external relay in most installations. An override function allows manual on/off control when automatic operation needs to be bypassed temporarily, controlled via the same DIP switch array used for sensitivity and hold time configuration.

The sensor is rated for non-dimmable LED loads only. Connection to dimmable circuits or incompatible load types may cause flicker or failure. The reference chart printed on the unit's top panel maps each DIP switch combination to its corresponding sensitivity level and hold time, allowing configuration without external documentation.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between ceiling and wall mounting detection range?

Ceiling mounting at up to 3m height provides approximately 8m detection radius covering the area beneath the sensor. Wall mounting provides approximately 4m detection radius for horizontal movement across the wall plane. Detection range decreases at higher mounting positions or for slower movements.

How is sensitivity adjusted?

Six-position DIP switches on the top panel control sensitivity (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%) and hold time (5s, 30s, 1min, 3min, 5min, 10min, 20min, 30min). A reference chart printed on the unit maps each switch combination to its function. Adjustments are made with a small screwdriver or similar tool.

Can it be used with dimmable LED circuits?

No. The sensor is rated for non-dimmable LED loads only. Connecting to dimmable circuits or incompatible loads may cause flicker, buzzing or sensor failure. Verify load compatibility before installation.

What is the override function?

The override function allows manual on/off control, bypassing automatic motion detection. This is useful during maintenance, cleaning or periods when constant lighting is needed regardless of occupancy. Override is controlled via the DIP switch array.
