Description

The PowerMaster fire-rated recessed downlight is an 84mm fixed fitting with a white pressed steel bezel, a GU10 lampholder and fire-rated compliance for 30, 60 and 90-minute standards. The fitting accepts any standard GU10 bulb up to 50W (sold separately), giving control over light output, colour temperature and beam angle depending on the lamp chosen.

Designed for kitchens, bathrooms (Zone 3 only), hallways and commercial spaces where Building Regulations require fire-rated downlights to maintain ceiling integrity in the event of fire, the fitting installs into an 84mm ceiling cut-out with a minimum void depth of 120mm. The quick-fit screwless clips hold the bezel flush to the ceiling without needing separate fixings once the lamp holder is wired in.

The white powder-coated steel bezel sits flush with most plasterboard and plaster ceilings, providing a neutral finish that blends into white or off-white ceiling planes. The IP20 rating limits this model to dry indoor areas away from direct water spray, so it suits general living spaces, bedrooms and hallways but not shower zones or wet rooms. Dimmable performance depends on the GU10 bulb selected — pair with a dimmable LED GU10 and compatible dimmer for variable output.

What does fire-rated mean?

Fire-rated downlights contain intumescent materials that expand under heat to seal the ceiling aperture during a fire, maintaining the ceiling's fire resistance for 30, 60 or 90 minutes depending on the rating. This PowerMaster model complies with all three standards, making it suitable for installations where Building Regulations require fire-rated fittings.

What bulb does it take?

The fitting takes a standard GU10 bulb up to 50W. GU10 bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 5-7W LED GU10 in warm white (2700K-3000K) for kitchen and hallway installations.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

The IP20 rating and Zone 3 suitability mean it can be used in bathrooms provided it is installed at least 600mm outside the boundary of the bath or shower enclosure and away from direct water spray. It cannot be used in Zones 0, 1 or 2.

Is it dimmable?

Dimmer compatibility depends on the GU10 bulb installed. If you use a dimmable GU10 LED and pair it with a compatible LED dimmer switch, the fitting will dim. Non-dimmable GU10 bulbs will not dim regardless of the switch.
