Description

The PowerMaster fire rated downlight is a fixed GU10 fitting with a polished chrome screwless bezel and pressed steel housing. The 84mm diameter cut-out accepts a GU10 bulb up to 50W (sold separately), with the bezel sitting flush to the ceiling surface once installed. Fire rating provides 30-90 minutes protection depending on ceiling construction, slowing the spread of fire between floors.

Designed for kitchens, hallways, bathrooms (Zone 3 only) and living rooms where recessed ceiling lighting is needed without adjustable tilt. The fixed orientation directs light straight down, making it suitable for general ambient lighting rather than accent or task lighting. The IP20 rating permits use in dry indoor areas but not in shower zones or directly above baths. Acoustic Part E compliance reduces sound transfer between rooms in multi-storey residential and commercial buildings.

The polished chrome finish gives a mirrored metallic surface that pairs with contemporary and modern interiors. The screwless bezel uses a push-fit or clip mechanism onto the housing, leaving no visible fixings on the ceiling face. Dimmable when paired with a dimmable GU10 LED bulb and compatible dimmer switch. The 120mm housing depth requires sufficient ceiling void for installation above plasterboard or similar ceiling materials.

What bulb does it take?

The fitting accepts a standard GU10 bulb up to 50W. GU10 bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 5-7W LED GU10 in warm white (2700K-3000K) for general ambient lighting.

Is it suitable for bathrooms?

The IP20 rating and Zone 3 specification permit use in bathrooms outside shower enclosures and away from direct water contact. It cannot be installed in Zones 0, 1 or 2 (inside or directly above a bath or shower).

What does fire rated mean?

Fire rated downlights are tested to slow the spread of fire through ceiling voids. The rating duration (30, 60 or 90 minutes) depends on the ceiling construction and installation method. This provides additional safety in residential and commercial buildings.

What ceiling void depth is needed?

The housing projects 120mm above the ceiling line, so a minimum 120mm void depth is required for safe installation. The fitting is designed for plasterboard ceilings with standard joist or batten spacing.
