Description

The PowerMaster adjustable PIR sensor provides 180° horizontal detection and 90° vertical tilt adjustment in a wall-mounted IP44-rated black plastic housing. The sensor switches up to 1100W at 220-240V, making it suitable for controlling outdoor floodlights, porch lights and security lighting across driveways, garden paths and building perimeters.

Designed for exterior wall mounting, the sensor detects movement within a 140° horizontal arc when correctly aimed and triggers the connected load when motion is detected. The 90° vertical tilt allows the detection zone to be angled down towards pathways or up towards approach routes depending on mounting height. The IP44 rating protects the sensor against water splash from any direction, making it suitable for exposed wall positions under eaves or canopies.

The black plastic housing measures 100mm wide by 85mm tall by 70mm deep and weighs 150g, allowing it to be fixed to most exterior wall types without additional support. The opal lens behind the black faceplate conceals the internal PIR element while allowing infrared detection to function without visible exposure of the sensor internals. The unit operates on standard UK 220-240V mains wiring and is compatible with both direct-wired and junction-box installations.

What switching capacity does the sensor support?

The sensor handles up to 1100W at 220-240V. This capacity is suitable for controlling most outdoor floodlights, LED security lights and porch lights. For loads exceeding 1100W, a separate contactor or relay is required.

Can the detection range be adjusted?

Yes. The sensor head tilts vertically through 90° to adjust the detection zone angle, and the horizontal detection naturally covers 180° when wall-mounted. This allows the detection pattern to be aimed at specific approach routes or pathways.

Is the sensor suitable for bathroom zones?

The IP44 rating makes the sensor suitable for bathroom Zones 3, 2 and 1 — areas outside the bath/shower enclosure where water splash may occur. It is not rated for Zone 0 (inside the bath or shower itself).

What wiring is required?

The sensor requires a live feed, a switched live output to the load, and a neutral connection on standard 220-240V UK mains. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with BS 7671 wiring regulations.
