Description

The PowerMaster 6ft twin emergency batten houses two integrated LED strips behind a single opal polycarbonate diffuser, delivering 8,450 lumens at 4000K cool white from 65W mains power. The white steel housing measures 1800mm in length and mounts to ceilings via a screwless hinged bracket that clips the diffuser open for tube access and maintenance without removing the entire fitting from the ceiling.

Designed for commercial and public building applications requiring maintained emergency lighting, the batten switches to battery backup during mains power failure, providing 1.5-2W emergency output for up to 3 hours. This meets UK Building Regulations Part B requirements for emergency escape route lighting in offices, retail corridors, stairwells and storage areas. The 130 lumens per watt efficiency and 120-degree beam angle provide even illumination across the full 6ft run without dark spots between the twin tubes.

The IP20 rating and IK06 impact resistance suit dry indoor environments with moderate protection from accidental knocks. Quick-fit push terminals accept up to 2.5mm² cable without needing a screwdriver, and the flicker-free driver operates at 50Hz mains frequency without visible strobe under video or in peripheral vision. Does the emergency battery need replacing?

The integrated battery provides 3-hour emergency backup from new. Battery lifespan depends on charge cycles and ambient temperature, typically requiring replacement every 3-5 years. The hinged diffuser allows access to the battery compartment without de-installing the batten from the ceiling.

What does the screwless hinged bracket do?

The hinged bracket allows the opal diffuser to be clipped open and closed without removing any screws or fixings. This gives access to the LED tubes, driver and battery for maintenance while the mounting plate remains fixed to the ceiling.

Is this suitable for bathrooms?

The IP20 rating means this batten is not splash-proof and should only be used in Zone 3 — outside the bathroom perimeter or in areas with no direct water exposure. For bathrooms, an IP44 or IP65 rated fitting is required.

Can it be surface-mounted to a wall?

Yes. The mounting bracket can be fixed to either a ceiling or a wall surface, provided the screwless hinged diffuser has clearance to open downwards or sideways for maintenance access.
