Description
The PowerMaster 6 Sided PIR Wall Lantern is a traditional-style outdoor wall light with a six-panel clear glass body housed in a black aluminium frame, fitted with a passive infrared motion sensor below the canopy. The PIR detects movement across a 120-degree arc up to 8 metres away, switching the light on automatically when someone approaches and turning it off after a set delay period.
Designed for exterior doorways, porches, garage entrances and garden pathways, the lantern provides both security lighting and hands-free convenience when arriving home after dark. The PIR sensor sits beneath the top canopy and is angled to cover the approach zone directly in front of the wall, making it effective for side entrances, back doors and gate posts. The lantern mounts on a standard backplate with two fixing points and takes a single ES (E27 screw) bulb up to 60W (sold separately).
The black powder-coated aluminium frame resists corrosion in typical UK outdoor conditions, while the six clear glass panels allow light to spread in multiple directions without creating harsh downward-only illumination. At 370mm height and 230mm width, the lantern has enough visual presence to suit standard residential doorway proportions without appearing oversized on narrow cottage entrances. The IP43 rating protects against solid objects over 1mm and water spray at angles up to 60 degrees from vertical, making it suitable for sheltered positions under eaves, porch canopies and covered entryways — Zone 3 in bathroom classification terms.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does it take?
The lantern takes a standard ES (E27 screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W for porch and pathway lighting.
How sensitive is the PIR sensor?
The PIR detects movement across a 120-degree arc up to 8 metres away. Sensitivity and delay settings may be adjustable depending on the specific sensor unit fitted — check the fitting instructions for adjustment controls on the sensor housing.
Can it be used in exposed positions?
The IP43 rating protects against water spray at angles up to 60 degrees from vertical, making it suitable for sheltered positions under eaves, porch canopies and covered doorways. It is not rated for fully exposed positions with direct rainfall or horizontal water ingress.
Is the PIR sensor adjustable?
Most PIR-equipped lanterns in this style have adjustable sensitivity and timer delay settings accessible via small dials on the sensor unit. Consult the fitting instructions for the specific controls on this model.
