Description

The Knightsbridge WGULEN is a 105mm diameter recessed ground light built from 304 stainless steel with an IP67 rating and a 1000kg load capacity at 5mph, making it suitable for both pedestrian walkways and vehicle driveways. The fitting sits almost flush with the ground surface (5mm projection above grade) and houses a single GU10 lamp (sold separately) behind a clear tempered glass diffuser.

Designed for installation in driveways, patios, garden paths and courtyard edges, the fitting requires a 92mm cut-out diameter and recesses 158mm below the finished surface level. The stainless steel construction resists corrosion in outdoor conditions and can handle repeated drive-over traffic when installed correctly into a stable sub-base. Twin 20mm compression glands on the base body provide secure cable entry and maintain the IP67 seal against water ingress during heavy rain or ground flooding.

The GU10 lamp base accepts standard mains-voltage LED, halogen or retrofit LED lamps up to 25W, giving flexibility to choose the light output and colour temperature needed for the application. The stainless steel finish is left natural without plating, so the surface develops a consistent patina over time rather than showing wear from chipping chrome. The fitting is Class I earthed and operates on standard 230V 50Hz mains supply.

Can this be driven over by vehicles?

Yes. The fitting is rated to 1000kg at 5mph, which covers typical domestic vehicle traffic on driveways and garage entrances. It must be installed into a stable concrete or paving sub-base with proper load distribution to achieve this rating.

What GU10 bulb is recommended?

Most users install a warm-white LED GU10 between 3W and 7W with a narrow beam angle (35-40 degrees) for path marking, or a wider beam (60 degrees) for driveway illumination. The fitting accepts any GU10 up to 25W. Bulbs are sold separately.

Is it waterproof enough for heavy rain?

The IP67 rating means the fitting is sealed against dust ingress and can withstand temporary immersion in water up to 1m depth. It will handle heavy rain, ground flooding and hosing down without water entering the lamp compartment, provided the compression glands are tightened correctly during installation.

How is it wired?

The fitting has twin 20mm compression glands on the base body for cable entry. Standard 1.5mm² outdoor-rated cable is terminated inside the fitting and connected to the GU10 lampholder. The fitting must be earthed (Class I) and installed by a qualified electrician in compliance with BS 7671 wiring regulations.
