Description

The Mercury F10A is a 6 x 32mm quick blow fuse rated at 10A and 250V, designed to break a circuit within milliseconds of an overload condition. The glass body allows visual inspection of the fuse element, and the nickel-plated brass end caps fit standard 6 x 32mm fuse holders used in UK consumer units, amplifiers, power supplies and distribution boards.

Quick blow fuses operate faster than slow-blow or time-delay types, making them suited to circuits where sensitive electronics or components need immediate protection from overcurrent rather than tolerating brief inrush surges. The 10A rating handles continuous loads up to 2,300W on 230V mains, with the fuse element designed to melt and open the circuit at approximately 135% of rated current within 10-100 milliseconds depending on fault magnitude.

The Mercury range meets IEC 60127 standards for miniature fuses, ensuring consistent breaking capacity and dimensional accuracy across production batches. The 6 x 32mm cartridge format is one of the most common fuse sizes in European and UK electrical equipment, making these fuses direct replacements for existing installations without adaptor hardware. The glass body is robust enough for typical handling but should be protected from impact during storage and installation.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between quick blow and slow blow fuses?

Quick blow fuses open the circuit within milliseconds of detecting an overcurrent, providing immediate protection for sensitive electronics. Slow blow (or time-delay) fuses tolerate brief inrush currents from motors or transformers before breaking, making them unsuitable for circuits where fast protection is needed.

Are these fuses reusable after they blow?

No. Once the internal element melts and breaks the circuit, the fuse must be replaced. Attempting to bypass or repair a blown fuse creates a fire and equipment damage risk.

What voltage rating do I need?

These fuses are rated for 250V systems, which covers UK 230V mains and most European electrical installations. Do not use fuses rated below the circuit voltage — a 250V-rated fuse used on a 230V circuit provides appropriate headroom.

How do I know when the fuse has blown?

The glass body allows visual inspection. A blown fuse will show a broken or blackened element inside the tube. If the element appears intact but the circuit is dead, remove the fuse and test continuity with a multimeter.
