Description

The LYYT flush mount plaster-in profile is a 2m aluminium channel designed to sit below the plaster layer in walls or ceilings, creating a recessed linear LED installation with minimal visible profile once finished. The channel accepts LED tape up to 12.5mm wide and includes a white snap-fit diffuser that sits flush with the surrounding plaster surface, diffusing the LED point sources into a continuous line of light.

Designed for new-build or renovation projects where plasterboard or skim plaster finishes are being applied, the profile sits in a routed channel or between joists before the final plaster layer is applied. The 3mm lip along both edges provides a mechanical key for the plaster to grip onto, improving adhesion and reducing the risk of cracks forming along the joint between the profile and the surrounding plaster. Once plastered and painted, only the 12.5mm-wide white diffuser remains visible.

The extruded aluminium body measures 55.5mm wide by 15mm deep externally, with an internal channel of 15.5mm wide by 12.5mm deep to house the LED tape. The white polycarbonate diffuser clips into place without tools and can be removed for tape replacement or maintenance. The 2m length can be cut to size on site using a hacksaw if shorter runs are needed, or multiple profiles can be installed end-to-end for continuous runs along corridors, above kitchen worktops, or within cove lighting schemes.

Specification
External cross-section 55.5 x 15mm
Internal cross-section 15.5 x 12.5mm
Diffuser visible width 12.5mm
Length 2m
Frequently Asked

What LED tape width does it accept?

The 15.5mm internal channel width accommodates LED tape between 8mm and 12.5mm wide. Standard single-row LED strips at 8-10mm and some dual-row tapes up to 12mm will fit. The tape adheres to the base of the aluminium channel using the tape's own adhesive backing.

How is it installed in plasterboard?

A channel is routed or cut into the plasterboard or substrate to accept the profile depth of 15mm. The profile sits in this channel with the 3mm lip sitting proud on the surface. Plaster is then applied over the lip and surrounding area, leaving only the central diffuser channel exposed. The diffuser clips in after plastering and decorating is complete.

Can the profile be cut to length?

Yes. The 2m aluminium extrusion can be cut to any shorter length using a hacksaw or mitre saw with a metal-cutting blade. Cut ends can be deburred with a file before installation.

Is the diffuser removable after installation?

Yes. The white polycarbonate diffuser uses a snap-fit mechanism and can be removed without tools to access the LED tape for replacement or troubleshooting, then re-clipped into place.
