Description

The LumiLife 35W recessed LED downlight delivers 2,760 lumens at 5700K through an integrated LED module behind a white bezel and frosted lens. The IP54 rating protects against dust ingress and water splashes, making the fitting suitable for kitchens, bathrooms (Zone 2 and 3), and covered outdoor areas. The 160mm cut-out diameter fits standard ceiling joists and the spring-clip mounting system secures the downlight into plasterboard or solid ceilings without visible fixings.

Designed for commercial, retail and large residential spaces needing bright task or ambient lighting, the 5700K colour temperature produces a cool daylight tone that supports concentration and clarity in offices, workshops, retail floors and hospital corridors. The 90-degree beam angle provides broad wash coverage across ceilings between 2.4m and 3.6m high, reducing the number of fittings needed compared to narrow-beam spotlights. The downlight is TRIAC dimmable and works with most leading-edge and trailing-edge dimmer switches, allowing brightness adjustment from full output down to approximately 10%.

The white powder-coated aluminium bezel and separate heatsink dissipate the 35W heat load without a cooling fan, keeping the fitting silent during operation. The IP54 seal between the bezel and lens prevents moisture and dust from reaching the internal driver and LED board, extending service life in damp environments. The external driver box (supplied) installs into the ceiling void and connects to the downlight via a short cable, keeping mains wiring separate from the low-voltage LED circuit. At 850g the combined weight of downlight and driver requires adequate joist support — installers should confirm structural suitability before cutting ceiling apertures.

Can this be used in a bathroom?

Yes. The IP54 rating and Zone 2/3 certification allow installation in bathrooms, provided the downlight is positioned at least 600mm from the edge of a bath or shower cubicle (Zone 2) or outside these zones entirely (Zone 3). It cannot be installed directly above a bath or shower (Zone 0 or Zone 1).

What ceiling void depth is needed?

The downlight body and separate driver require approximately 100-120mm of ceiling void depth for safe installation. The driver box measures roughly 140mm x 50mm x 30mm and should be positioned where it can be accessed for future maintenance.

Is it compatible with dimmer switches?

Yes. The downlight is TRIAC dimmable and works with most leading-edge and trailing-edge dimmer switches. Dimming performance varies by dimmer model — test compatibility before installing multiple fittings on a single dimmer circuit.

What cut-out diameter is required?

The fitting requires a 160mm diameter hole in the ceiling. Use a holesaw or adjustable circle cutter rated for the ceiling material (plasterboard, plaster-and-lath, or timber). The spring clips compress for insertion and expand behind the ceiling to hold the downlight flush.
