The fitting allows you to switch between three colour temperatures — 3000K warm white, 4000K neutral white, and 6500K cool white — using a selector switch on the fitting itself, so the same unit can be adjusted to suit different applications without needing to stock multiple variants.

Designed for exterior wall mounting on commercial buildings, residential porches, carparks, storage yards and industrial loading areas, the bulkhead combines security lighting with emergency egress lighting in one unit. The microwave sensor detects movement through the polycarbonate diffuser and triggers full 1600lm output, then dims to a lower holding level or switches off after the pre-set timer expires. The emergency mode kicks in when mains power is lost, drawing from an internal battery to maintain light for evacuation or continued work.

The ABS polymer base resists UV degradation and impact, while the polycarbonate diffuser is harder-wearing than acrylic alternatives and rated to withstand direct water jets (IP65). The 115° beam angle provides wide-area coverage suitable for illuminating a 4-6m wall section or a 3m porch area from a single mounting point. At 17.5W the fitting draws significantly less power than a 100W halogen bulkhead while delivering comparable light output across the 1200-1600lm range depending on the selected colour temperature.

The selector switch for CCT adjustment is accessed by removing the diffuser, allowing installers to set the colour temperature on-site rather than pre-ordering a specific variant. How does the microwave sensor work?

The microwave sensor emits low-power radio waves through the diffuser and detects movement when the reflected wave pattern changes. It triggers full light output when motion is detected, then returns to a lower hold state or switches off after a pre-set timer. The sensor works through the polycarbonate diffuser, so there are no external PIR lenses to clean or replace.

What happens during a power cut?

The emergency function activates when mains power is lost. An internal battery maintains light output for a duration determined by the battery capacity (see product literature for exact runtime). This allows the fitting to serve as emergency egress lighting in commercial settings or to provide continued illumination during outages in residential applications.

How do you change the colour temperature?

Remove the polycarbonate diffuser to access a selector switch on the LED driver. The switch has three positions: 3000K (warm white), 4000K (neutral white), and 6500K (cool white). Set the switch to the desired position, replace the diffuser, and restore power. The change takes effect immediately.

Is the IP65 rating suitable for direct weather exposure?

Yes. IP65 means the fitting is dust-tight and protected against water jets from any direction. It withstands rain, snow and direct hosing, making it suitable for external wall mounting in all UK weather conditions. The fitting is not submersible and should not be installed in locations where it would be submerged or in constant contact with standing water.
