Is the LED replaceable?

The LEDs are integrated into each sphere module. They are rated for approximately 25,000 hours of use at 3000K, which translates to over 10 years at typical residential use of 6 hours per day. The modules are not user-replaceable.

Can it be placed outdoors?

No. La Carga is rated for indoor use only. The fiberglass and resin construction is not weatherproofed, and the Class 1 electrical rating requires earthed mains connection indoors. Exposure to rain or UV would degrade both the finish and the electrical components.

What surface does it need?

The circular base measures 28cm wide by 40cm deep and weighs 5.2kg. It sits stably on console tables, sideboards, credenzas and similar furniture without tipping. The base is flat with no felt or rubber pads, so placing it on polished wood may benefit from a protective mat to prevent minor surface contact marks.

How is the sculpture cleaned?

Wipe the matt black resin with a dry microfibre cloth. For fingerprints on the opal spheres, use a barely-damp cloth with distilled water. Do not use household sprays, polishes or abrasive cleaners on either the resin or the acrylic glass, as these can dull the finish or scratch the opal coating.
