Knightsbridge 14W LED Bulkhead - White IP44

The Knightsbridge 14W LED bulkhead delivers 1070lm of 6000K daylight-white light through an opal polycarbonate diffuser, housed in a 330mm diameter white polycarbonate body rated IP44 for splash protection. The integrated SMD LED array replaces traditional 28W 2D fluorescent bulkheads with a constant-current driver that runs on 230V mains without requiring an external ballast.

Designed for utility and circulation spaces in both residential and commercial settings, the bulkhead suits hallways, stairwells, storage areas, garages, porches and exterior covered locations such as carports and canopies where overhead moisture protection is needed. The IP44 rating provides protection against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashes from any direction, making it suitable for bathrooms (zone 2 and outside zones), covered outdoor areas, and unheated outbuildings. The 105-degree beam angle gives wide, even light distribution across a 3-4m floor area from a ceiling height of 2.4m.

The polycarbonate construction resists impact better than acrylic or glass diffusers, and the white finish integrates with standard white ceilings without creating a visual interruption. The 110mm projection from the ceiling is typical for a surface-mounted bulkhead of this diameter. The fitting is non-dimmable and is surface-wired to standard UK ceiling wiring via a terminal block inside the housing. Can this be used outdoors?

Yes, but only in covered locations such as porches, carports, canopies and soffits. The IP44 rating protects against splashes from any direction but is not suitable for direct exposure to rainfall or full outdoor weathering.

Is it suitable for bathrooms?

Yes. The IP44 rating makes it suitable for bathroom zones 2 and outside zones (more than 0.6m from a bath or shower enclosure). It is not rated for use inside shower cubicles or directly above baths.

What area does it light?

The 105-degree beam angle and 1070lm output provide even general lighting across a 3-4m floor area when mounted at standard 2.4m ceiling height. In smaller spaces like hallways the light will be brighter.

How is it wired?

The bulkhead is surface-mounted to the ceiling and connects to standard UK mains wiring via a terminal block inside the housing. Installation requires a qualified electrician and should comply with current wiring regulations.
