Description
The Flessen is a single-arm wall sconce cast in solid brass with an antique brass finish, featuring a turned vertical backplate with a bulbous decorative section, a curved arm extending at right angles, and a candle-style SES bulb holder. The sconce stands 23cm tall with a 19cm projection from the wall and accepts bulbs up to 60W.
Designed for hallways, staircases, bedroom walls and corridor lighting where a compact wall fitting is needed, the Flessen works as a single accent beside a mirror or doorway, or in symmetrical pairs flanking artwork or architectural features. The 7cm backplate diameter keeps the wall footprint small while the 19cm arm provides enough projection to cast light forward and downward without shadowing the wall immediately beneath the fitting.
The antique brass finish is applied over solid brass metalwork, giving the sconce a muted, aged appearance with darker patina in the recesses of the turned details. The finish pairs with natural stone, timber panelling, neutral paint colours and traditional interiors where polished chrome or brushed nickel would feel too contemporary. At 0.4kg the sconce is light enough to fix to plasterboard with appropriate hollow-wall fixings, though solid walls give the most secure mount.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does it take?
The Flessen takes a Small Edison Screw (SES, E14 base) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 4-6W LED candle bulb in warm white (2700K) to match the antique brass finish.
Can it be fitted to plasterboard walls?
Yes, though solid walls give the most secure fixing. At 0.4kg the sconce is light enough for hollow-wall fixings rated to 5kg or above, but ensure the fixing points align with the sconce's mounting holes.
How is the antique brass finish maintained?
Antique brass is a deliberately aged finish with darker patina in recesses. Wipe with a dry microfibre cloth to remove dust. Avoid metal polishes or abrasive cleaners which would remove the aged appearance and restore the brass to a polished state.
Does it need an earth connection?
Yes. The sconce is metal and requires an earth connection for safe installation. If you are unsure about the wiring in your property, consult a qualified electrician before fitting.
