Description
The Knightsbridge EXT3 is a 604mm black steel ground spike designed to replace the standard 110mm spike supplied with Knightsbridge outdoor spike lights. The extended length raises the light fitting approximately 494mm higher, positioning the lamp head at a more useful height for illuminating pathways, planting, and garden features without the light being obscured by ground-level foliage or mulch.
Designed for use in garden beds, borders, and lawns where standard spike lights sit too low to clear planted areas, the extension spike allows the light to project over taller grasses, perennials, and low shrubs. The 12mm diameter matches the internal socket of most Knightsbridge spike lights, so installation involves removing the original 110mm spike and inserting the EXT3 in its place before pushing the assembly into the ground.
The black powder-coated steel finish resists corrosion in outdoor conditions and matches the typical black or graphite housings of Knightsbridge's spike light range. The pointed tip aids initial penetration into compacted soil, though pre-drilling or watering the ground beforehand helps in harder clay or stony soils. The spike is sold as a standalone accessory and does not include the light fitting itself.

Frequently Asked
Which Knightsbridge spike lights does this fit?
The 12mm diameter fits most Knightsbridge outdoor spike lights with a removable ground spike. Check the diameter of the existing spike socket on your fitting before ordering — if the original spike is 12mm diameter, this extension will fit.
How much higher does it raise the light?
The EXT3 is 604mm long compared to the standard 110mm spike, adding approximately 494mm of height once installed. The exact height above ground depends on how deeply the spike is pushed into the soil.
Can it be used in hard or stony ground?
The pointed tip aids penetration, but in compacted clay or stony soils it helps to water the ground thoroughly beforehand or pre-drill a pilot hole with a metal rod. Forcing the spike into very hard ground risks bending the shaft.
Does the black finish rust outdoors?
The black powder-coated steel resists corrosion in typical outdoor conditions. The portion of the spike below ground may develop surface oxidation over time, but this does not affect structural integrity or function.
