Description
The Eveready 4.9W LED candle bulb is a direct replacement for traditional 40W incandescent candle bulbs, using an E27 Edison screw base that fits standard UK light fittings. The bulb outputs 470 lumens at a 6500K daylight colour temperature, producing a bright, cool-toned white light that mimics natural daylight conditions. The candle shape suits decorative fixtures, chandeliers, wall sconces and table lamps where the bulb itself is visible.
Designed for task-oriented spaces including home offices, kitchens, bathrooms and workshops where clarity and visibility matter, the 6500K daylight output reduces the warm yellow cast of lower colour temperatures, making it easier to see fine detail during reading, food preparation or close work. The 280° beam angle provides wide light distribution across the room rather than a focused spotlight effect. The bulb operates on standard 220-240V mains and is non-dimmable.
At 4.9W the bulb uses approximately 88% less energy than the 40W incandescent it replaces while delivering comparable light output. The Energy Rating F reflects the current EU energy labelling scale introduced in 2021, where most LED bulbs now fall into the E-G range following the rescaling that removed the A+++ and A++ categories. The frosted finish diffuses the LED chip inside, preventing glare when the bulb is viewed directly.

Frequently Asked
Is this bulb dimmable?
No. This Eveready LED candle bulb is non-dimmable and must not be used with dimmer switches. Attempting to dim a non-dimmable LED can cause flickering, buzzing or premature failure.
What does 6500K daylight mean in practice?
6500K is a cool-toned white light that closely resembles natural daylight at midday. It appears crisp and bright, with a subtle blue cast compared to warmer 2700K-3000K bulbs. This makes it well-suited to task lighting in kitchens, bathrooms and workspaces where colour accuracy and visibility are priorities.
How does the Energy Rating F compare to older bulbs?
The EU rescaled energy labels in 2021, removing A+++, A++ and A+ ratings. Most LEDs now fall into E-G under the new scale. An F-rated LED at 4.9W still uses around 88% less energy than the 40W incandescent it replaces, so the rating reflects the tougher scale rather than poor efficiency.
Will this fit my existing light fitting?
The bulb uses an E27 (Edison screw) base, which is the standard large screw fitting in the UK for pendant lights, table lamps, chandeliers and wall sconces. The 56mm diameter and 110mm height are typical for candle-shaped bulbs and should fit most fixtures designed for candle bulbs, though check shade clearances on enclosed fittings.
