Description

The Eveready 15W fridge bulb is a B15 SBC (small bayonet cap) incandescent bulb built for refrigerator and appliance lighting. It delivers 100 lumens of warm white 3000K light through a clear glass envelope and a compact pygmy-style form that fits tight internal fixtures where standard bulbs cannot. The B15 base locks into dedicated fridge sockets with a quarter-turn bayonet fitting.

Designed for refrigerators, freezers, microwaves, cooker hoods and sewing machines, this bulb operates in low-temperature environments and withstands the door-open cycles typical of appliance use. The 15W filament generates enough brightness to illuminate shelves and compartments without overpowering small internal spaces. The bulb switches on instantly when the door opens, with no warm-up delay.

The incandescent construction tolerates frequent switching and cold starts better than early LED or CFL alternatives, which is why many appliance manufacturers still specify traditional filament bulbs for fridge duty. The clear glass allows the full 100 lumens to pass through without diffusion loss. Rated at 1,000 hours average life and Energy Rating G, this bulb prioritises appliance compatibility and cold-start reliability over efficiency.

Frequently Asked

What appliances does this bulb fit?

The B15 SBC base fits most UK-market fridges, freezers, microwaves, cooker hoods and sewing machines that use a small bayonet socket. Check your appliance's existing bulb base before ordering.

Can I use an LED bulb instead?

Some appliances tolerate LED replacements, but many fridge manufacturers specify incandescent bulbs because the filament construction tolerates cold temperatures and frequent switching better than early LED designs. If your appliance manual specifies incandescent, use this bulb.

How long does it last?

Rated at 1,000 hours average life. In a typical fridge opened 10-15 times a day for 30 seconds each, this translates to approximately one year before replacement is needed.

Is it safe to use in a freezer?

Yes. The incandescent filament operates normally at freezer temperatures (typically -18°C to -22°C), unlike some LED bulbs which may fail or flicker in very cold environments.
