Description

The Energizer Metal Pen Torch is a pocket-sized LED torch delivering 35 lumens from a durable aluminium barrel approximately 140mm long. Two AAA batteries (included) power the torch for up to 20 hours of continuous use, with light output controlled by a tail-cap switch that clicks on and off. A steel pocket clip on the barrel allows the torch to be carried clipped to a shirt pocket, tool belt or bag.

Designed for close-range tasks where directional light is needed, the torch suits inspecting confined spaces, reading fuse boards, checking under sinks, finding items in toolboxes and glove compartments, and general household tasks where a phone torch would require two hands. The narrow beam throws light approximately 9 metres, making it a task torch rather than a long-distance spotlight. The 1-metre drop resistance rating means the torch survives being knocked off a workbench or dropped onto a garage floor.

The aluminium barrel resists corrosion and provides a firmer grip than plastic-bodied pen torches, while keeping the overall weight to 10g when loaded with batteries. The tail-cap switch is recessed to prevent accidental activation when carried in a pocket or bag. The torch runs on standard AAA alkaline batteries — the included Energizer Max AAAs can be replaced with any AAA cell when they deplete.

Can rechargeable AAA batteries be used?

Yes. The torch accepts any AAA cell, including rechargeable NiMH batteries. Note that rechargeable AAAs typically output 1.2V rather than 1.5V, which may slightly reduce brightness and runtime compared to alkaline cells.

The beam throws approximately 9 metres. This is a close-range task torch, not a long-distance spotlight. The narrow beam concentrates light for detailed inspection work rather than illuminating large areas.

Is it waterproof?

The torch is splash-resistant but not waterproof or submersible. It will survive light rain and splashes from working under a sink, but should not be immersed in water or used in heavy downpours.
