Description
The Energizer 16W LED bulkhead is an IP44-rated ceiling or wall-mounted fitting with an integrated LED producing 1200 lumens at 4000K cool white. The opal PMMA diffuser spreads light evenly across the fitting's surface, minimising glare and creating a broad 120-degree beam angle suitable for general area lighting rather than task focus.
Designed for bathrooms (Zones 1, 2 and 3 — not Zone 0), hallways, porches and covered outdoor areas where a basic IP44 splash-proof rating is sufficient. The slimline white polycarbonate housing mounts flush to the wall or ceiling with three fixing points, sitting approximately 60mm proud of the mounting surface once installed. The 4000K colour temperature provides crisp, neutral white light that pairs well with tiled bathrooms, white-painted hallways and modern commercial spaces.
The integrated 16W LED cannot be replaced, so the entire fitting reaches end-of-life when the LED degrades — typical lifespan is manufacturer-dependent but generally 20,000-30,000 hours. At 75 lumens per watt the fitting sits in Energy Rating F under current UK labelling. The 560g weight and polycarbonate construction make it lighter than metal equivalents, simplifying ceiling mounting on plasterboard with standard cavity fixings.

Frequently Asked
Can this be used in a shower enclosure?
No. The IP44 rating makes it suitable for Zones 1, 2 and 3 in bathrooms (near the bath or shower but not directly above or inside the enclosure). Zone 0 — the interior of a shower cubicle or above a bathtub — requires IP67 or higher.
Is the LED replaceable?
No. The 16W LED is integrated into the fitting and cannot be replaced. When the LED reaches end-of-life the entire bulkhead must be replaced.
What is the projection from the wall or ceiling?
The fitting sits approximately 60mm proud of the mounting surface once installed. The slimline design keeps the projection lower than traditional dome bulkheads.
Is it suitable for outdoor use?
The IP44 rating provides protection against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashing from any direction, making it suitable for covered porches, soffits and carports. It is not weatherproof enough for fully exposed outdoor walls subject to driving rain.
