Description

The Brilliance is a 130x91cm arched overmantle mirror framed in moulded polyurethane finished in gold. The frame carries classical detailing including acanthus leaf motifs at the crest and fluted pilasters running down each vertical, with a shallow shelf ledge at the base. The glass sits within a bevelled inner edge that adds depth to the reflection.

Designed for placement above fireplaces, console tables and sideboards in living rooms, dining rooms and entrance halls, the mirror works in both period properties with existing classical detailing and in contemporary interiors seeking contrast against plainer wall finishes. The 130cm width suits standard UK fireplace openings of 120-140cm, while the 91cm height provides sufficient vertical reflection without dominating a 2.4m ceiling height. Two D-rings on the reverse accept picture wire or mirror plates for wall mounting.

The polyurethane frame construction keeps the weight to 12.5kg, making it lighter than equivalent carved-wood frames whilst retaining crisp moulding detail. The gold finish has a mid-tone warmth that sits between polished brass and antique gold, pairing comfortably with both warm-toned wood furniture and cooler grey or blue wall colours. What fixing method is used?

The mirror has two D-rings on the reverse that accept picture wire or heavy-duty mirror plates. At 12.5kg the mirror requires wall fixings rated for at least 15kg and should be mounted into solid wall or into studs if fitting to plasterboard.

Is the frame wood or resin?

The frame is moulded polyurethane, not carved wood. This keeps the weight lower than solid wood whilst retaining the fine detail of classical mouldings. The gold finish is applied over the polyurethane base.

What fireplace width does it suit?

The 130cm width works above standard UK fireplace openings of 120-140cm, leaving 5-10cm clearance either side of the opening. For narrower fireplaces the mirror may overhang the mantel shelf; for wider openings it can appear undersized.

Can it be cleaned?

Wipe the glass with standard glass cleaner and a microfibre cloth. For the gold frame, use a dry or barely-damp soft cloth to remove dust. Avoid abrasive cleaners or polishes that could scratch the finish.
