Description

The AV:Link micro USB extension cable is a 25cm lead with a micro USB plug on one end, a micro USB socket on the other, and an inline click-action on/off switch in the centre. The switch allows power to be cut to the connected device without unplugging the cable, reducing wear on the device's micro USB port.

Designed for use with Raspberry Pi boards (Zero, Pi 3, Pi 4), mini PCs, tablets, Bluetooth speakers and other micro USB-powered devices, the cable extends an existing micro USB power supply by 250mm. This is useful when the original cable is too short to reach a convenient switching position, or when frequent power cycling is needed without repeatedly plugging and unplugging at the device port.

The 3.5mm diameter cable is flexible enough to route behind desks, monitor arms or wall-mounted Raspberry Pi enclosures without kinking. The click-action switch gives tactile confirmation of on/off state and sits comfortably in the cable run without adding significant bulk. Both the plug and socket are standard micro USB-B configuration, compatible with the vast majority of micro USB devices manufactured between 2010 and 2020.

Specification
Cable : diameter 3.5mm

Frequently Asked

What devices is this compatible with?

Any device with a micro USB-B port for power. Common uses include Raspberry Pi boards (Zero, 3, 4), Android tablets, mini PCs, Bluetooth speakers, portable hard drives and older smartphones. The cable extends a micro USB power supply and adds a switch, it does not provide data transfer.

Does the switch control power or data?

The switch controls the power line only. This cable is intended for power extension, not data transfer. If your micro USB connection carries both power and data, this cable will not pass the data signals.

Can the cable handle Raspberry Pi power requirements?

Yes. The 3.5mm cable diameter and standard micro USB contacts support the 2.5A current draw typical of a Raspberry Pi 3 or 4 under load. Pair with a quality 5V 2.5A or 3A power supply for reliable operation.
