Description

The Albert is a 40.3cm rabbit head sculpture cast in polyresin with a hand-applied antique bronze finish. The head sits at an upright angle on a rectangular black plinth base, with both ears erect and the muzzle pointing slightly forward. The surface is worked to show fur texture across the head, ears and throat, with deeper tonal variation where the finish has settled into the recesses between carved strands.

Designed as a decorative accent for consoles, sideboards, bookcases and mantels, the Albert suits both traditional country interiors and contemporary spaces that pair natural forms with darker metallic tones. The 27.8cm width and 40.3cm height give the piece enough presence to anchor a shelf styling or act as a bookend alongside coffee table books and framed prints. At 1.9kg the sculpture is stable enough to sit on a narrow console without needing additional weight or fixing.

The antique bronze finish is applied by hand after casting, so each piece shows slight variation in how the patina settles across the high points of the ears, the eye sockets and the carved fur lines. The rough, distressed surface treatment gives the polyresin the appearance of aged metal sculpture rather than moulded resin, and the finish does not flake or rub off under normal handling. The black plinth base provides a clean visual break between the sculpture and the surface it sits on.

Frequently Asked

Is the sculpture solid or hollow?

The Albert is cast in solid polyresin, giving it the 1.9kg weight. Hollow resin castings at this scale would be prone to cracking and warping. The solid construction ensures stability when positioned on a shelf or console.

Does the bronze finish wear or rub off?

The antique bronze finish is applied after casting and sealed. It does not rub off under normal handling or dusting. Over time the high points of the ears and muzzle may show slight lightening from repeated contact, which adds to the aged appearance rather than detracting from it.

How is it cleaned?

Wipe with a dry, soft microfibre cloth to remove dust from the recesses between carved fur lines. For more stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth is acceptable, but avoid soaking the base or using household sprays and polishes that could react with the bronze finish.

Can it be used outdoors?

No. The Albert is designed for indoor decorative use only. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, moisture or temperature fluctuation will cause the polyresin to degrade and the bronze finish to lift.
