Description

The Adastra BC3B is a pair of compact stereo speakers, each housing a 75mm (3") woofer with a coated paper cone and a 25mm (1") balanced dome tweeter. Each speaker handles 30W RMS (60W max), giving the pair a combined 60W RMS output when driven in stereo. The two-way driver configuration provides frequency response from 120Hz to 20kHz, covering speech intelligibility and background music reproduction without requiring a separate subwoofer in smaller spaces.

Designed for background audio in retail, offices, cafes, meeting rooms and hospitality environments, the BC3B mounts on walls or ceilings using the included adjustable metal brackets. The brackets allow the speakers to be angled towards the listening area, directing sound into a seating zone or across a shop floor. Each speaker measures 106 x 153 x 106mm and weighs 840g, making them unobtrusive when mounted at ceiling height or on feature walls.

The black ABS housing resists impact better than timber cabinets and the steel grille protects the drivers from accidental contact during installation or cleaning. The matt black finish blends into dark ceilings and feature walls without drawing attention. The 8-ohm impedance allows the pair to be driven by most commercial PA amplifiers, integrated amplifiers or AV receivers without needing impedance matching transformers.

What amplifier power is needed to drive the BC3B pair?

Each speaker handles 30W RMS at 8 ohms. A stereo amplifier with 2 x 30W RMS output into 8 ohms will drive the pair to their rated level. Lower-powered amplifiers (2 x 15-20W) will still provide adequate volume for background music in rooms up to 40-50m².

Can these be used outdoors?

No. The BC3B carries no IP rating and the ABS housing is not weatherproofed. They are designed for indoor installation only. For outdoor use, consider IP-rated speakers from the Adastra outdoor range.

What cable gauge is recommended for installation?

For cable runs under 10m, 0.75mm² figure-8 speaker cable is adequate. For longer runs or multiple pairs wired in parallel, use 1.5mm² cable to minimise resistance and maintain power transfer.

Are the brackets adjustable?

Yes. The included metal brackets allow the speakers to be angled on the wall or ceiling mount, directing sound towards the listening area rather than straight down or forward.
