Description
The Knightsbridge T5128 is a 4ft (1175mm) fluorescent batten with a single 28W T5 tube, housed in a pressed steel body finished in white. The fitting uses a high-frequency soft start ballast that reduces the initial lamp strike surge and extends tube lifespan by limiting thermal shock. The batten can be mounted on walls or ceilings using the integrated back plate and accepts standard T5 28W tubes (sold separately).
Designed for commercial, retail, educational and industrial environments where continuous overhead lighting is needed, the batten suits corridors, storage areas, workshops, classrooms and back-of-house spaces. The IP20 rating limits use to dry internal locations only — the fitting is not suitable for bathrooms, outdoor use, or areas where moisture or dust ingress is a concern. The 1175mm length provides a continuous light run when fittings are installed end-to-end in rows.
The pressed steel construction gives the fitting mechanical strength for ceiling mounting without adding excessive weight, and the white finish reflects light upwards when ceiling-mounted, improving overall room brightness. The polycarbonate lamp holders and end caps provide electrical insulation and resist thermal stress from the tube ends. The fitting requires mains earthing (Class I) and connects to 230V 50Hz supply.

Frequently Asked
What tube does it take?
The batten accepts a standard 28W T5 fluorescent tube, 1163mm long with G5 bi-pin caps at each end. The tube is sold separately — use Niori's search or filter to find compatible T5 tubes in stock.
Can it be used in a bathroom or garage?
The IP20 rating limits the batten to dry internal locations only. It is not suitable for bathrooms (which require IP44 or higher), outdoor use, or unheated garages where condensation may form.
What does the soft start ballast do?
The high-frequency soft start ballast reduces the initial voltage surge when the tube strikes, which lowers the thermal shock on the tube electrodes and can extend the lamp's operating life by up to 50% compared to conventional magnetic ballasts.
Can multiple battens be installed in a continuous run?
Yes. The 1175mm length allows fittings to be installed end-to-end on a ceiling or wall to create a continuous light run. Each batten requires a separate mains connection — they do not daisy-chain electrically.
