Description
This Knightsbridge 47mm galvanised steel back box pairs two 2-gang boxes on a single rear mounting plate, designed specifically for small multimedia combination plates. The galvanised steel construction uses 1mm thick metal to EN 60670 standards, providing corrosion resistance and structural rigidity for flush wall mounting of AV, data and telecom faceplates.
Used in residential and commercial installations where multiple AV or data connections need to be grouped in a single location, the double-box configuration allows a small multimedia plate to present HDMI, USB, RJ45, coaxial or audio connections side by side. Each 47mm box includes one fixed and one adjustable mounting lug, allowing the installer to level the box in the wall cavity before the plaster sets.
Each box carries an earth terminal and features a mix of 20mm and 25mm knockouts on the sides and rear for cable entry from different directions. The 157mm x 130mm footprint fits between standard UK stud spacing, and the 47mm depth suits most modern wall constructions including plasterboard on timber studs and dot-and-dab onto masonry. The galvanised finish resists rust in damp wall cavities during construction and over the life of the installation.

Frequently Asked
What are multimedia combination plates?
Multimedia combination plates group AV, data and telecom connections (HDMI, USB, RJ45, coaxial, audio jacks) in a single wall outlet. This double back box provides the mounting structure for small Knightsbridge multimedia plates that occupy a 2-gang width.
What wall construction does this suit?
The 47mm depth suits most modern UK wall builds including plasterboard on timber studs, plasterboard dot-and-dabbed onto masonry, and solid masonry with plaster skim. The 157mm height fits between standard 400mm or 600mm stud centres.
Does it include an earth terminal?
Yes. Each of the two 2-gang boxes includes an earth terminal for connecting protective earth conductors from the incoming cables.
What are the knockouts?
Each box has a mix of 20mm and 25mm pre-formed knockout holes on the sides and rear, allowing cable entry from multiple directions. The installer punches out the relevant knockout depending on the cable run.
