Description
The Knightsbridge 45A DP cooker switch isolates electric cookers, ovens, hobs and other fixed cooking appliances rated up to 45A total load (10,350W at 230V). The double-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when the switch is turned off, providing a safe method for disconnecting power during cleaning, maintenance or appliance replacement. A red neon indicator lights when the switch is in the on position, giving visual confirmation that the circuit is live.
Designed for installation adjacent to cooker locations in kitchens, utility rooms and commercial catering prep areas, the switch fits a standard 47mm minimum back box depth. The polished brass screwless faceplate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box, so there are no visible screws or fixings on the wall once installed. The single-gang size (87.5mm square) makes it compact enough to fit into typical kitchen layouts without consuming excessive wall space.
The polished brass finish provides a warm metallic accent that pairs with traditional and warm-toned contemporary kitchen schemes. The premium-grade steel construction carries a 25-year manufacturer warranty. The switch is rated Class I with an IP20 ingress protection rating, suitable for dry indoor locations. Where multiple cooking appliances are wired to the same circuit, the switch can control them all simultaneously, provided the combined load does not exceed the 45A rating.

Frequently Asked
What back box depth is required?
A 47mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The screwless cover plate adds approximately 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted.
What does the neon indicator show?
The red neon indicator lights when the switch is in the on position, providing visual confirmation that the circuit is live. When the switch is turned off, the neon goes dark, showing the circuit is isolated.
Can this control multiple cooking appliances?
Yes, provided the combined load of all appliances wired to the circuit does not exceed 45A (10,350W at 230V). For example, a single 8kW oven and a 2kW hob on the same circuit would total approximately 43A and fall within the rating.
Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?
Yes. The polished brass cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting or tiling around the switch and re-clipped without re-wiring.
