Description

The Knightsbridge BF2440EMS is a 24W LED emergency bulkhead with an integrated PIR motion sensor, housed in a 388mm diameter white polycarbonate and acrylic body. The fitting contains SMD LEDs delivering 1600lm at 6000K daylight colour temperature through an opal diffuser, with a 115-degree beam spread that provides wide area coverage from a ceiling or wall-mounted position.

Designed for commercial environments requiring both emergency lighting compliance and energy-efficient motion-activated operation, the bulkhead suits warehouses, stairwells, loading areas, external canopies and industrial corridors. The IP44 rating protects against water spray from any direction, making the fitting suitable for sheltered outdoor locations and high-moisture internal areas. The emergency function operates in maintained, non-maintained or switched modes depending on installation requirements, providing 277lm emergency output for safe egress during mains failure.

The PIR sensor activates the full 24W output when motion is detected within its field of view, then switches to a lower standby mode or off after a preset delay, reducing running costs in intermittently used spaces. The polycarbonate base and acrylic diffuser resist impact and UV degradation better than standard ABS housings. At 117mm projection from the mounting surface, the low-profile body fits tight ceiling voids and external soffits where deeper fittings cannot be accommodated. The fitting is rated for 60,000 hours L70B50 lifespan, meaning 70% of units will still produce at least 50% of initial output after 60,000 hours of use.
