24W LED Bulkhead Light IP44 White - 1600lm 6000K Daylight

The Knightsbridge BF2440 is a 24W LED bulkhead light built from polycarbonate and acrylic with an integrated SMD LED module delivering 1600lm at 6000K daylight white. The opal diffuser spreads light across a 115° beam angle, producing uniform illumination suitable for corridors, stairwells, loading bays, and external covered areas. IP44 ingress protection allows installation in damp locations including bathrooms (zones 2 and 3), outdoor canopies, and unheated garages.

The circular housing measures 388mm diameter with a 117mm projection from the mounting surface. The white polycarbonate construction is impact-resistant and Class II double-insulated, requiring no earth connection. The bulkhead operates on 230V 50Hz mains and includes the LED module as a non-replaceable component — the entire fitting is replaced at end of life. L70B50 rating of 60,000 hours means the LEDs maintain 70% of initial brightness for approximately seven years under continuous operation.

Optional bezel rings are available separately in polished chrome, brushed brass, matt silver and matt white finishes (shown in image thumbnails on the right). These bezels clip onto the white base unit and provide a coloured halo effect when the bulkhead is lit. The standard configuration ships without a bezel, showing the white housing and opal lens only. Optional microwave sensor and emergency battery versions are available in the BF range for applications requiring occupancy detection or standby lighting.

The 6000K colour temperature produces a clinical daylight tone suited to task areas, commercial premises, and industrial settings where colour rendering accuracy matters more than ambience. For warmer light in residential hallways or domestic bathrooms, Knightsbridge also produces this bulkhead in 4000K neutral white (separate product code).

Can this be used in bathrooms?

Yes. The IP44 rating allows installation in bathroom zones 2 and 3 (outside the shower cubicle and more than 600mm from a bath or basin). It cannot be installed in zones 0 or 1 (inside the shower or directly above a bath) which require IP65 or higher.

Is the LED replaceable?

No. The SMD LED module is integrated into the bulkhead housing and cannot be replaced. When the LEDs reach end of life (60,000 hours L70B50 rating, approximately seven years of continuous use), the entire fitting is replaced.

What are the bezel options shown in the image?

The image shows optional bezel rings available separately in polished chrome, brushed brass, matt silver and matt white. These clip onto the white base unit and provide a coloured halo effect when lit. The standard BF2440 ships without a bezel.

Is this bulkhead suitable for outdoor use?

The IP44 rating protects against splashing water and solid objects larger than 1mm, making it suitable for covered outdoor areas such as porches, canopies and carports. It is not weatherproof enough for fully exposed outdoor mounting where rain can drive directly onto the fitting — for that application an IP65 bulkhead is required.
