The Knightsbridge 20AX 1-gang DP toggle switch module is a single-pole toggle switch rated to 20 amps, designed to clip into Knightsbridge Grid mounting plates. The double-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when the toggle is in the off position, providing additional safety over single-pole switching for high-load circuits and commercial applications.

The module is designed for use within Knightsbridge's modular Grid system, which allows multiple switch and socket modules to be combined on a single faceplate. The module clips into a Grid mounting plate fixed to the back box, allowing installers to configure custom switch layouts for residential, hospitality and commercial installations. The 20AX rating handles loads up to 4,600W on 230V circuits, making it suitable for controlling large lighting arrays, commercial kitchen equipment, or other high-draw devices.

The polished chrome finish provides a mirror-like reflective surface that pairs with contemporary interiors and high-gloss kitchens. The toggle lever is metal with a chrome finish matching the surrounding faceplate. The module measures 56.3mm high by 24.8mm wide, with a projection of 18.4mm from the mounting plate once installed. The front-clip fitting means the module can be removed and replaced without re-wiring the back box.

The 25-year guarantee covers manufacturing defects and mechanical failure under normal use. The IP20 rating restricts the module to dry indoor locations — it is not suitable for bathrooms, outdoor installations or environments where moisture is present.

What is the Knightsbridge Grid system?

The Grid system is a modular wiring accessory range that allows multiple switch and socket modules to be combined on a single faceplate. Modules clip into a Grid mounting plate fixed to the back box, so you can configure custom layouts with toggle switches, rockers, dimmers, sockets and other modules on one plate.

What mounting plate is required?

This module requires a Knightsbridge Grid mounting plate, sold separately. The mounting plate fixes to a standard UK back box (35mm minimum depth), and the module clips onto the front. Plates are available in 1-gang, 2-gang, 3-gang and larger configurations.

What is the 20AX rating used for?

20AX means the switch can handle up to 20 amps on a 230V circuit, equivalent to 4,600W. This rating suits high-load applications such as commercial lighting circuits, large banks of downlights, or equipment in commercial kitchens and workshops.

Can this be used in bathrooms?
