Description
The Knightsbridge TPR14LEDEM is a 14W LED emergency bulkhead delivering 1100lm through an opal polycarbonate diffuser at 4000K cool white. The integrated emergency battery provides 3 hours of illumination at 200lm during mains power failure, operating in maintained, non-maintained or switched modes depending on installation wiring. The IP65 rating protects against dust ingress and water jets, making the fitting suitable for both interior and exterior mounting.
Designed for corridors, stairwells, fire exits, car parks and external building perimeters where emergency lighting is required under Building Regulations, the bulkhead provides an output comparable to a 28W 2D fluorescent fitting while drawing half the wattage. The 285mm diameter circular profile and 86mm projection suit wall and ceiling mounting on standard junction boxes. The hinged polycarbonate gear tray allows access to the terminal block and battery compartment without removing the diffuser from the wall, reducing maintenance time on installations with multiple fittings.
The polycarbonate body and diffuser resist impact and UV degradation better than acrylic alternatives, maintaining light transmission and structural integrity in exposed outdoor positions. The Class II double-insulated construction removes the need for an earth connection, simplifying installation on older wiring systems. The fitting has an L70B50 lifespan of 60,000 hours, meaning 50% of fittings will still deliver at least 70% of initial output after approximately 7 years of continuous use before requiring LED module replacement.

Frequently Asked
What's the difference between maintained, non-maintained and switched emergency modes?
Maintained mode keeps the bulkhead on continuously during mains power and switches to battery during power failure. Non-maintained mode keeps the bulkhead off during mains power and illuminates only during power failure. Switched mode allows normal on/off control during mains power and illuminates during power failure. The mode is set during installation by how the fitting is wired into the circuit.
How long does the emergency battery last?
The battery provides 3 hours of illumination at 200lm during mains power failure. After discharge, the battery recharges automatically when mains power is restored. Battery lifespan is typically 3-4 years depending on discharge frequency, and the battery is user-replaceable through the hinged gear tray.
Can this be used outdoors?
Yes. The IP65 rating protects against dust ingress and water jets from any direction, making the bulkhead suitable for external wall and soffit mounting in car parks, building perimeters, covered walkways and other exposed positions. The polycarbonate body resists UV degradation better than acrylic alternatives.
Does it need an earth connection?
No. The Class II double-insulated construction removes the need for an earth connection, requiring only live and neutral wiring. This simplifies installation on older wiring systems where earth conductors may not be present or reliable.
