Description
This Knightsbridge 13A switched fused spur combines a double pole switch, integral fuse holder and neon indicator behind an antique brass square edge faceplate. The neon glows red when the switch is on, providing visual confirmation that the downstream appliance is powered without needing to check the appliance itself.
Designed for hard-wired appliances such as water heaters, electric ovens, kitchen hobs, extractor fans and washing machines, the fused spur isolates the appliance circuit from the ring main and protects it with a replaceable 13A fuse. Double pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when the switch is off, giving additional safety over single-pole switching for high-draw fixed appliances. The unit is BS 1363-4 certified and requires a 25mm minimum back box depth for installation.
The antique brass finish carries a brushed, slightly aged tone that pairs well with traditional, classical and heritage-style interiors. The square edge plate sits flush to the wall with an integrated gasket behind the faceplate to prevent moisture ingress at IP20 level. The premium-grade steel construction and screw terminals handle standard UK wiring configurations, and Knightsbridge backs the unit with a 25-year warranty.

Frequently Asked
What is a fused spur used for?
A fused spur isolates a fixed appliance from the main ring circuit and protects it with its own 13A fuse. Common uses include electric ovens, water heaters, extractor fans, wall-mounted air conditioning units and washing machines where a switched socket would be impractical or against regulations.
What does the neon indicator show?
The neon glows red when the switch is in the on position, confirming that power is flowing to the downstream appliance. This allows you to verify the appliance is powered without checking the appliance itself, which is particularly useful for appliances concealed behind cabinetry or built into walls.
What back box depth is required?
A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The faceplate adds 10.5mm of projection from the wall once fitted.
What other finishes are available in this range?
Knightsbridge produces this switched fused spur style in a range of finishes including polished chrome, brushed chrome, polished brass, matt black and white. Use the search function or filters to find other variants in stock at Niori.
