Description

The Knightsbridge 13A 2-gang SP switched socket adds two USB-A charging ports behind a brushed chrome faceplate with a white insert. The single-pole switching isolates the live conductor when the socket is switched off, providing standard control for lighting circuits and low-draw appliances. The dual USB-A ports share a 5V DC 2.4A output, allowing simultaneous charging of two devices at reduced speeds compared to dedicated chargers.

Designed for residential installation in kitchens, bedrooms, home offices and living areas, the socket fits a 25-35mm back box depending on cable configuration and available space. The rounded-edge design includes a built-in gasket that creates a flush seal against the wall once the socket is screwed to the back box. The 13A rating handles standard UK appliance loads up to 2,990W per outlet.

The brushed chrome finish provides a cool metallic accent that pairs well with contemporary, minimalist and cooler-toned interiors. The white insert behind the chrome faceplate hides the back of the cover plate and provides contrast around each outlet aperture. The 304 stainless steel construction resists corrosion and maintains finish consistency over time. The socket meets BS1363-2:2016 and EN 62680-1-1 standards for electrical safety and USB charging compliance.

Frequently Asked

What back box depth is required?

A 25-35mm back box depth is needed depending on cable configuration and available space. The socket projects approximately 34.67mm from the wall once fitted, with the faceplate adding 12.7° of chamfered edge profile.

What's the USB charging output?

The dual USB-A ports share a 5V DC 2.4A output. When charging two devices simultaneously, the 2.4A is split between both ports, resulting in slower charging speeds than dedicated wall chargers or fast-charge adapters.

What's the difference between SP and DP switching?

SP (single-pole) switching isolates only the live conductor when the socket is switched off, while DP (double-pole) isolates both live and neutral. SP switching is standard for most domestic applications; DP provides additional safety isolation for high-draw appliances.

Is the socket suitable for bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating means this socket is suitable for dry indoor locations only. Bathrooms require sockets with higher IP ratings (typically IP44 or above) or must use dedicated shaver sockets that comply with bathroom zone regulations.
