Description
The Knightsbridge 10AX 4-gang 2-way switch controls four independent lighting circuits from a single faceplate, finished in antique brass with a square-edge steel construction. Each gang switches up to 10A at 230V, allowing control of high-load lighting circuits including multiple downlights, chandeliers, or mixed lighting zones in larger rooms.
The 2-way configuration allows each gang to be paired with a second switch elsewhere in the room, so a single lighting circuit can be controlled from two locations — typically used for staircases, long corridors, or rooms with multiple entry points. The four gangs operate independently, making this switch well-suited to open-plan living areas, commercial reception spaces, or hospitality environments where multiple lighting zones need discrete switching.
The antique brass finish is a warm, slightly darkened brass with subtle tonal variation that develops naturally over time, giving the switch a lived-in, heritage character. The square-edge faceplate is cut from premium-grade steel and sits flush with the wall once fitted to a standard UK back box. A built-in gasket behind the faceplate protects the terminal chamber from dust ingress, and the IP20 rating confirms it's suitable for dry indoor locations. The switch requires a 16mm minimum back box depth and carries a 25-year warranty.

Frequently Asked
What does 2-way switching mean?
2-way means each gang can be wired to work with a second switch at another location, allowing a single light to be controlled from two positions. Common in hallways, staircases, and rooms with multiple doors.
What's the difference between 10A and 10AX?
10AX is rated for 10A resistive load and 6A inductive load, making it suitable for fluorescent, LED and low-voltage transformer circuits. Standard 10A switches are resistive-only and may not handle inductive loads reliably.
What back box depth is needed?
A 16mm minimum back box depth is required. Most UK standard metal back boxes are 25mm or 35mm, both of which accommodate this switch comfortably.
Does the antique brass tarnish over time?
Antique brass is pre-treated to have a warm, slightly darkened tone. It will continue to develop a natural patina with handling and exposure to air, which is a characteristic of the finish rather than a defect.
