Description
The Knightsbridge 10A fan isolator module is a single-width grid component with a black nickel rocker and white ABS surround, designed to isolate extractor fans or ventilation systems from the mains supply. The triple-pole switching cuts live, neutral and switched live simultaneously, providing full isolation when turned off. The module clips into Knightsbridge grid mounting frames from the front without removing the frame from the wall.
Typically installed in bathrooms, utility rooms and kitchens where extractor fans need a dedicated isolator switch, the module fits into modular grid systems that allow multiple switches, sockets and control modules to be grouped in a single wall plate. The 35mm minimum mounting box depth requirement means it pairs with standard UK back boxes used for switches and sockets. The rocker is marked 'FAN isolator' with ON/OFF positions.
The black nickel finish on the rocker provides a dark metallic contrast against the white module surround, pairing well with black nickel socket and switch plates in the same Knightsbridge range. The ABS and steel construction carries IP20 ingress protection, suitable for indoor dry locations, and the module is rated for 1500A conditional short circuit current. The 25-year warranty covers manufacturing defects and electrical failure under normal residential use.

Frequently Asked
What mounting frame is needed?
This module clips into Knightsbridge grid mounting frames, sold separately. The frame type depends on the number of modules you want to group together — single, double, triple or larger grid frames are available. The module fits standard 35mm back boxes.
What does triple-pole switching mean?
Triple-pole switching isolates live, neutral and switched live conductors simultaneously when the switch is turned off. This provides full isolation of the fan circuit, which is the standard requirement for bathroom and kitchen extractor fan isolators.
Can this be used in a bathroom?
Yes, but only outside zones 0, 1 and 2 as defined in BS 7671 wiring regulations. The IP20 rating means the module is not protected against moisture ingress, so it must be positioned away from direct water spray and outside the immediate vicinity of the bath or shower enclosure.
What other finishes are available?
Knightsbridge produces grid modules in a range of finishes including polished chrome, brushed chrome, polished brass, antique brass, matt black and white. Use the search function or filters to find other variants in stock at Niori.
