Description
The Knightsbridge 10A fan isolator key switch module is a single-width grid component designed to control and isolate extractor fans in bathrooms, utility rooms and kitchens. The module uses a triple-pole switching mechanism that isolates live, neutral and switched live lines when turned to the off position, providing full electrical isolation for safe fan maintenance or replacement.
The key-operated design prevents unauthorised switching, which is useful in commercial washrooms, care homes, and shared residential facilities where consistent ventilation is required. The module clips into Knightsbridge's standard grid mounting frames (sold separately) from the front, allowing installation into new builds or retrofit into existing grid plates without removing the faceplate from the wall. The 10A rating handles standard domestic extractor fans rated up to 2,300W.
The white UREA finish matches Knightsbridge's standard grid range and suits both modern and traditional interiors. The ABS body and steel internal components give the module an IP20 rating for dry indoor use, and the 1500A conditional short circuit current rating provides safety in the event of a fault. The module's 25mm width occupies one grid space, leaving room for additional switches, sockets or dimmer modules in the same plate.

Frequently Asked
What mounting frame does this module require?
The module clips into Knightsbridge's standard grid mounting frames, which are sold separately and come in 1-gang through to 6-gang configurations. The frame is fixed to a standard 25mm or deeper back box, then modules clip in from the front.
What does triple-pole switching mean?
Triple-pole switching isolates the live, neutral and switched live lines when the switch is turned off, providing full electrical isolation. This is required for safe fan maintenance and is a Building Regulations requirement for many bathroom extractor fan installations.
Is the key removable?
Yes. The key can be removed in either the on or off position, allowing the switch to be locked in a set state to prevent unauthorised changes. This is useful in commercial and care settings where consistent ventilation is required.
Can this be used with timed extractor fans?
Yes. The module provides mains isolation and switching for any 10A-rated extractor fan, including models with internal timer circuits. The triple-pole design ensures all lines are isolated when the switch is off.
