Description
The Knightsbridge 1.3kW shortwave infrared heater uses a 254mm R7s quartz lamp inside a white die-cast aluminium housing with a fine mesh safety grille. The quartz lamp reaches operating temperature within seconds of switching on, emitting shortwave infrared radiation that heats people and objects directly rather than heating the surrounding air. The IP24 rating protects against splashing water from any direction, making the unit suitable for sheltered outdoor positions such as covered patios, pub terraces and alfresco dining areas.
Designed for outdoor heating in spaces up to 10m², the heater mounts to walls or poles using the included bracket, which accommodates pole diameters from 20mm to 60mm. The 3m cable terminates in a standard BS plug top, allowing the heater to be plugged into a weatherproof outdoor socket without additional wiring. The shortwave infrared output is wind-resistant compared to convection heaters, so the warmth remains effective in open-sided structures where air movement would otherwise disperse heat.
The white powder-coated die-cast aluminium body measures 345mm wide, 245mm high and projects 180mm from the wall when mounted. The mesh grille prevents accidental contact with the hot quartz tube while allowing full infrared transmission. The unit is Class I earthed and complies with current British Safety Standards. The quartz lamp has a rated lifespan of 3000 hours and is user-replaceable (replacement part HEOT1300W, sold separately). The heater emits no CO₂ or NOx during operation.
The white finish pairs cleanly with rendered or painted exterior walls, white-framed conservatories and modern outdoor furniture. The heater suits both residential patios and commercial hospitality settings where outdoor heating is needed without permanent gas installation or the visible bulk of freestanding patio heaters.

Frequently Asked
What does IP24 mean for outdoor use?
IP24 protects against splashing water from any direction, making the heater suitable for sheltered outdoor positions such as covered patios, pergolas and pub terraces. It is not weatherproof against sustained rain or submersion, so the heater should be mounted under a roof, canopy or overhang.
How long does the quartz lamp last?
The included R7s quartz lamp is rated for 3000 hours of operation. Replacement lamps are available separately (part number HEOT1300W). The lamp is user-replaceable without needing to return the entire unit.
Can it be mounted on a pole?
Yes. The included mounting bracket accommodates both wall mounting and pole mounting for pole diameters between 20mm and 60mm. This allows the heater to be fitted to pergola posts, gazebo frames or freestanding poles.
How quickly does it heat up?
Shortwave infrared quartz lamps reach full operating temperature within seconds of switching on. The heat is felt almost immediately, unlike convection heaters that need time to warm the surrounding air.
