Description

The Sangamo Q563 is a 24-hour electromechanical time switch with a quartz-driven clock dial and two independently programmable on/off operations. The unit controls mains-powered circuits up to 20A through a 4-pin connection, switching loads on and off at set times without user intervention once programmed. A manual override button allows temporary switching outside the programmed schedule.

Designed for controlling heating systems, lighting circuits, water heaters, ventilation systems and pump timers in residential, commercial and light industrial installations, the Q563 operates on a repeating 24-hour cycle. The day omit dial allows specific days of the week to be excluded from the programmed schedule, so heating can run Monday to Friday but remain off at weekends without re-programming. The 100-hour battery reserve maintains the time and schedule during mains power interruptions without losing the programmed settings.

The clear polycarbonate front cover shows the red and white clock dial with red 24-hour time markings and numbered 1-24 around the circumference. The dial rotates once every 24 hours, driven by a quartz clock movement visible through the cover. Four brass terminals on the black base accept cable terminations for the incoming supply and outgoing switched circuit. The unit measures 104mm wide, 83mm deep and 134mm high, designed for panel mounting or DIN rail installation depending on the enclosure used.

Frequently Asked

How do I programme the on/off operations?

The Q563 uses physical pins inserted into the rotating dial at the desired on and off times. Each pin represents one switching event. Insert pins at the hour marks where you want the circuit to switch on and remove them where you want it to switch off. The dial rotates once per 24 hours, triggering the pins as they pass the actuator.

What does the day omit dial do?

The day omit dial allows you to exclude specific days of the week from the programmed schedule. For example, you can set heating to run Monday to Friday but skip Saturday and Sunday without removing the pins from the dial.

What happens if the power is interrupted?

The 100-hour battery reserve maintains the clock time and programmed schedule during mains power cuts. When power returns, the clock continues from the correct time without needing to be reset.

What load can it switch?

The Q563 is rated at 20A resistive load on 230V mains. This suits most domestic heating systems, immersion heaters, lighting circuits and ventilation fans. Inductive loads such as motors may require de-rating — consult the datasheet linked above for specific load types.
