Description
The Roma is a 150x50cm horizontal rectangle wall mirror built around a central bevelled mirror plate surrounded by angled mirrored panels, all mounted on a black-lacquered MDF backing frame. The bevelled central plate sits 4mm proud of the angled surround panels, creating a stepped profile that catches light at different angles and adds dimensional depth to what would otherwise be a flat reflective surface.
Designed for positioning above consoles, sideboards, dressing tables and in hallways where horizontal emphasis suits the wall proportions, the Roma works particularly well in rooms where ceiling height is standard but wall length allows for a wide mirror. The 150cm width balances a typical 120-140cm console without overwhelming it, while the 50cm height provides enough reflection for checking appearance without reading as a full-length mirror. The 18kg weight requires two fixing points into masonry or directly into wall studs for safe installation.
The silver mirror finish across both the central plate and the angled surround panels creates a uniform reflective surface that amplifies natural light from windows and artificial light from nearby table lamps or wall lights. The black lacquered MDF backing provides structural rigidity and hides the reverse of the mirror glass, so the edges present cleanly when viewed from an angle. The 4cm total depth including the backing frame means the mirror sits slightly away from the wall, giving it presence without heavy projection.
Schuller manufactures the Roma in Spain using float glass mirror with a protective backing coating applied to the reverse to prevent moisture penetration in humid environments. The bevelled edge on the central plate is ground and polished by hand, so the bevel width can vary slightly between individual mirrors as a result of the production process.

Frequently Asked
How is the Roma mounted to the wall?
The mirror requires two fixing points into masonry or directly into wall studs due to its 18kg weight. D-rings or keyhole brackets are typically pre-fitted to the black MDF backing frame. Wall plugs and screws are not supplied — use fixings rated for at least 10kg each and check they're appropriate for your wall construction before installation.
Can it be hung vertically?
The Roma is designed as a horizontal mirror with a 150cm width and 50cm height. It can physically be rotated 90 degrees and hung vertically, but the proportions would then read as a narrow 50cm-wide full-length mirror rather than the intended wide horizontal format.
Is the bevelled edge only on the central plate?
Yes. The central mirror plate has a bevelled edge ground around its perimeter. The angled surround panels are flat mirror without bevelling, creating a two-tier reflective surface with the bevel defining the transition between the central and outer sections.
How is the mirror cleaned?
Use a standard glass cleaner or a solution of distilled water with a small amount of white vinegar, applied with a microfibre cloth. Wipe in a circular motion and buff dry with a clean microfibre cloth to avoid streaking. Avoid spraying cleaner directly onto the mirror if it's already hung — spray onto the cloth first to prevent liquid running down behind the frame.
