Description

This 100cm open skeleton wall clock pairs a black metal grid face with an antique gold outer frame, four raised Roman numerals (XII, III, VI, IX) and a central globe motif formed from intersecting latitudinal and longitudinal lines. The visible mechanism at the centre includes moving cogs that rotate behind the clock hands as the mechanism runs, creating functional decoration rather than static detail.

Designed for large wall spaces in hallways, living rooms, dining rooms and open-plan areas where a 1m diameter clock provides both timekeeping and architectural presence. The open frame design allows the wall colour to show through the grid, making the clock appear lighter and less solid than a full-face alternative of the same size. The 8cm projection from the wall accounts for the depth of the mechanism housing behind the face.

The metal construction combines a matt black finish on the grid and cogs with an aged gold tone on the outer rim and Roman numerals, creating tonal contrast without requiring additional colour in the room. The clock mechanism is quartz-driven and requires batteries (not included). At 4.6kg the clock needs secure wall fixings into masonry or a stud wall — the mounting bracket is concealed behind the mechanism housing once hung.

Frequently Asked

Do the cogs actually move?

Yes. The cogs at the centre are connected to the clock mechanism and rotate as the clock runs. They are functional parts of the gearwork, not decorative replicas.

What batteries does it need?

The clock uses a standard quartz mechanism, typically powered by one or two AA batteries. Batteries are not included with the clock.

What wall fixings are required?

At 4.6kg and 100cm diameter, the clock needs secure fixings into brick, block or a stud wall. Use wall plugs and screws rated for at least 6-8kg, or screw directly into wall studs. The mounting bracket sits behind the mechanism housing and is not visible once the clock is hung.

Can it be used outdoors?

No. The clock is rated for indoor use only. The mechanism and metal finishes are not weatherproofed and will deteriorate if exposed to rain, humidity or temperature fluctuations.
