Description

The Knightsbridge Mini PIR Sensor is a 52mm diameter 360° ceiling-mounted occupancy detector with a separate power module, designed for recessed installation in 38mm ceiling cut-outs. The sensor detects movement within an 8m radius and switches connected lighting on or off based on occupancy, with adjustable lux thresholds and time delays from 30 seconds to 30 minutes.

Designed for residential hallways, landings, bathrooms, utility rooms and commercial corridors where automatic lighting control reduces energy use and improves convenience. The separate power module mounts in the ceiling void and connects to the sensor head via a short cable, simplifying installation in shallow ceiling voids where depth is limited. The 55mm recessed depth from the ceiling surface keeps the sensor flush with the ceiling plane.

The sensor head is made from white polycarbonate and sits nearly flush with the ceiling once installed, with only the PIR lens visible from below. The adjustable lux setting prevents the sensor from switching lights on during daylight when ambient light is sufficient, and the adjustable timer sets how long the lights remain on after the last detected movement. The sensor handles up to 2000W incandescent or 200W LED load and can be wired in parallel with multiple sensors to control the same lighting circuit from different detection zones.

Frequently Asked

What ceiling void depth is needed?

The sensor head requires a 55mm recessed depth below the ceiling surface, and the separate power module adds approximately another 30-40mm above that. A total ceiling void depth of 100mm or more is recommended for comfortable installation.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

The sensor is IP20 rated for dry indoor environments only. It is not suitable for bathroom zones where water spray or high humidity may occur. For bathroom PIR control, look for sensors with IP44 or IP65 ratings.

How is the lux threshold adjusted?

The lux threshold is adjusted via a dial on the sensor head or power module (refer to the manual for your specific model). Set it lower to allow the sensor to trigger in brighter ambient light, or higher to prevent triggering during daylight.

Can multiple sensors control the same circuit?

Yes. The sensor can be wired in parallel with other compatible PIR sensors to control the same lighting circuit from multiple detection zones, useful for L-shaped hallways or corridors with corners.
