Description

The Mercury F15A is a 6 x 32mm quick blow fuse rated at 15A 250V, designed to interrupt electrical flow within milliseconds of an overload or short circuit. The fuse uses a thin filament inside a glass tube body, which melts and breaks the circuit when current exceeds 15A, preventing damage to downstream electronics or wiring.

Quick blow fuses are used in equipment where a rapid response to fault conditions is required, such as audio amplifiers, power supplies, control panels and test equipment. The 6 x 32mm size is a standard metric cartridge fuse format that fits dedicated fuse holders and clips across a wide range of electronics and appliances. The 250V rating covers UK mains voltage (230V) with headroom for transient spikes.

The glass tube body allows visual inspection of the filament — a blown fuse shows a visible break or scorch mark inside the tube. The nickel-plated brass end caps provide good contact with fuse holder terminals and resist corrosion in typical indoor environments. IEC compliance means the fuse meets international safety standards for construction and performance, ensuring consistent behaviour across units.

Frequently Asked

What does 'quick blow' mean?

Quick blow (also called fast-acting or F-type) fuses respond to overcurrent within milliseconds. They are designed to protect sensitive electronics where a brief overload can cause damage. This contrasts with slow-blow or time-delay fuses, which tolerate short current surges without blowing.

Can these be used in UK mains plugs?

No. UK mains plugs use 13A BS 1362 fuses in a different cartridge format (25 x 6.3mm). The Mercury 6 x 32mm fuses are for equipment-level protection inside appliances, control panels and power supplies that have dedicated 6 x 32mm fuse holders.

How do I know if the fuse has blown?

Look through the glass tube. A blown fuse shows a visible break in the wire filament or scorch marks inside the tube. An intact fuse has a continuous wire visible running between the two end caps.

Are these sold individually or in packs?

Check the product listing for pack quantity. Mercury fuses are typically sold in packs of 5, 10 or bulk quantities rather than as individual units.
