Description

The LYYT 45W is a 12V DC constant-voltage LED power supply housed in an IP67-rated aluminium enclosure measuring 222 x 29 x 21mm. It converts 185-250V AC mains to 12V DC at up to 3.75A output, providing 45W capacity for LED strip lighting, signage, and low-voltage decorative installations where weatherproofing is required.

Designed for outdoor LED strip runs, bathroom cabinet lighting, exterior signage backlighting, and garden feature illumination, the IP67 rating protects the internal circuitry against dust ingress and temporary water immersion up to 1m depth. The sealed enclosure mounts in concealed locations behind fascia panels, under capping, or within IP-rated junction boxes, with a single looped output feed exiting one end and mains input cable exiting the other.

The aluminium case acts as a heatsink, dissipating load heat across the ribbed exterior without requiring forced ventilation. At 270g the unit can be mounted on double-sided adhesive pads, cable-tied to framework, or secured with small brackets depending on installation orientation. The compact profile allows fitting into shallow ceiling voids, behind pelmet channels, and within signage tray depths where larger transformer-style drivers would not fit.

The power supply operates across the full UK mains voltage range of 185-250V AC at 50/60Hz, accommodating brownout conditions and overseas installations within that tolerance. Output voltage remains regulated at 12V DC regardless of load variation up to the 3.75A maximum, ensuring consistent LED brightness across the connected strip length.

What length of LED strip can this power?

A typical 12V LED strip draws 4.8W per metre. At 45W capacity this power supply supports up to 9 metres of standard-density strip, or approximately 6 metres of high-density strip drawing 7-8W per metre. Always check the strip specification and calculate total wattage before installation.

Can it be used outdoors?

Yes. The IP67 rating protects against rain, splashing and temporary immersion. The unit should still be mounted in a sheltered location where it is not subject to prolonged standing water or direct UV exposure, which can degrade cable insulation over time.

Does it need ventilation?

No. The aluminium enclosure dissipates heat passively through the ribbed surface. Avoid enclosing the power supply in insulation or tightly packed spaces where airflow is completely blocked, as this will reduce thermal performance and lifespan.

Is it dimmable?

The power supply itself does not support dimming. To dim 12V LED strip powered by this unit, install a 12V DC PWM dimmer controller between the power supply output and the LED strip input.
