Description

The Galena is a 406mm outdoor wall lantern with a tapered metal frame in a sable grey finish, four panels of seeded glass, and a single E27 bulb fitting inside. The seeded glass texture breaks up direct glare from the bulb while still allowing most of the light through, giving a softer exterior glow than clear-glazed lanterns.

Designed for porch entrances, garage sides, and garden walls, the Galena is IP44 rated for protection against dust ingress and water splashes from any direction, making it suitable for covered positions that don't receive direct driving rain. The 235mm projection from the wall gives the lantern enough depth to cast downlight onto a doorstep or wall-mounted house number while keeping the bulb recessed enough to prevent direct uplighting into windows above.

The sable finish is a mid-tone grey with a low sheen that weathers well in UK coastal and urban conditions without showing heavy tarnish or salt deposits. The frame is metal with a powder-coated surface, and the decorative scrollwork at the top canopy and hanging loop references traditional coach lantern details without requiring a literal period restoration context. The lantern accepts any standard E27 LED, halogen or filament bulb up to 60W (sold separately), with most users choosing a warm white LED between 6-10W for reliable year-round performance.

Is this suitable for fully exposed positions?

The IP44 rating protects against dust and water splashes from any direction, making the Galena suitable for covered porches, garage sides, and positions under eaves. It is not rated for fully exposed positions that receive direct driving rain or prolonged water ingress.

What bulb should I use?

The lantern takes one E27 bulb up to 60W, sold separately. A warm white LED between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K provides reliable exterior lighting without needing frequent bulb changes. Filament-effect LEDs work well with the seeded glass if a traditional look is preferred.

How is it mounted?

The lantern mounts via a back plate fixed to the wall with screws (not supplied). Standard UK outdoor wiring connects inside the back plate before the lantern body is secured over it. The 235mm projection means the lantern sits clear of most render finishes and door frames.

Can the glass panels be replaced if broken?

Replacement glass panels are not typically stocked as separate parts for the Galena range. For availability of spare parts, contact Feiss or Niori directly with the model number FE-GALENA2-M-SBL.
