Description
The Caelith Small is a 600mm rectangular wall shelf cut from a single block of natural Spanish alabaster, with an integrated 3000K LED housed within the body of the stone. The shelf measures 600mm long, 100mm high and projects 200mm from the wall, doubling as a usable display ledge and a wall-mounted ambient light source. The whole block glows softly when lit, with the alabaster itself acting as the diffuser.
Designed for bedrooms, hallways, alcoves and bedside positions where a compact wall light is needed, the Caelith Small mounts directly to the wall and is wired into a fused spur or junction box behind the shelf. The 200mm projection gives enough surface for small decorative objects, a candle, a book or a clock, while the 600mm length suits narrower wall sections that a larger shelf would overwhelm.
Each shelf is cut from natural alabaster, so the warm amber and cream veining differs between pieces and becomes more pronounced when the LED is switched on. The soft-white finish on the cut faces preserves the raw character of the stone while keeping the geometry crisp and rectilinear. Wired at 230V mains with an integrated LED, there are no bulbs to replace and no exposed fittings to break the clean linear form.

Frequently Asked
How is the Caelith mounted to the wall?
The shelf wires into a 230V mains supply via a fused spur or concealed junction box positioned behind the body of the shelf. Cabling should be brought through the wall before the shelf is fixed in place, as the integrated LED is hard-wired with no plug-in option. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
Can I place objects on top of the shelf?
Yes. The 200mm projection provides a usable display surface for lightweight items such as small ceramics, a candle, a clock, framed photos or a stack of books. Avoid placing heavy objects or anything that would scratch the soft alabaster surface, and keep liquid containers away from the stone as alabaster is porous.
Does the alabaster vary between pieces?
Yes. Each shelf is cut from natural Spanish alabaster, so the veining, amber tones and translucency differ between pieces. The variation becomes more visible once the integrated LED is switched on, with darker mineral lines appearing as the light passes through the stone. This is a feature of the natural material rather than a defect.
How is the alabaster cleaned?
Wipe the surface gently with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. For more stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but avoid soaking the stone and do not use household sprays, polishes, vinegar or any chemical cleaners, as these can etch or stain the alabaster.
