Description

The AV:Link 3m HDMI cable connects HDMI devices over a 3-metre run, carrying high-speed video and audio signals plus Ethernet data on a single cable. Both ends terminate in nickel-plated HDMI Type A plugs with moulded strain-relief boots. The 6mm-diameter cable houses 0.255mm-diameter wire cores rated for HDMI High Speed transmission, supporting resolutions up to 1080p, 3D video formats and an audio return channel that allows compatible TVs to send audio back to a soundbar or receiver without a separate optical cable.

Designed for connecting Blu-ray players, games consoles, streaming boxes, AV receivers and projectors to TVs and monitors, the 3m length suits most living room and bedroom installations where the source device sits on a shelf or in a cabinet within 2.5m of the display. The Ethernet channel allows HDMI devices on the same cable to share a network connection, reducing the need for separate Ethernet runs to smart TVs or streaming devices in setups where the source device already has wired network access.

The nickel plating on both plugs resists corrosion from repeated connection cycles and provides a low-resistance contact surface. The moulded boots protect the solder joints where the cable enters each plug, reducing the risk of cable failure from repeated flexing near the connector. At 140g total weight the cable hangs comfortably from rear-panel HDMI sockets without placing excessive strain on the port.

Frequently Asked

What HDMI version does this cable support?

The cable is rated for HDMI High Speed transmission, which covers HDMI 1.4 and 2.0 features including 1080p resolution, 3D video, 4K at 30Hz, audio return channel and Ethernet. It does not support HDMI 2.1 features such as 4K at 120Hz or 8K.

Does the Ethernet channel work with all devices?

Both the source and display device must support HDMI Ethernet Channel (HEC) for network data to pass over the cable. Most consumer devices do not implement HEC, so the Ethernet feature remains unused in typical home setups. Standard HDMI video and audio transmission works regardless of HEC support.

Can this cable carry 4K signals?

Yes, at 3m length the cable supports 4K resolution at 30Hz refresh rate. For 4K at 60Hz or higher refresh rates a certified HDMI 2.0 or 2.1 cable is recommended, particularly over runs longer than 2m.

What is the audio return channel used for?

ARC (Audio Return Channel) allows a TV to send audio back down the HDMI cable to a soundbar or AV receiver, so you do not need a separate optical or analogue audio cable from the TV. Both the TV and the receiving device must support ARC for this to function.
