Description

This AV:Link Y-cable splits a single 3.5mm stereo jack plug into two 3.5mm stereo socket outputs across a 1.2m cable. The male 3.5mm plug connects to the source device (phone, tablet, laptop, MP3 player), while the two female 3.5mm sockets accept headphone plugs, speaker cables, or aux leads, allowing two listeners to share one audio output or two speakers to be driven from a single source.

The cable is used in home, classroom and office settings where multiple people need to listen to the same audio source without a dedicated headphone splitter box, or where a portable speaker setup needs to drive two satellite speakers from a single output. The 1.2m length provides enough reach for two people sitting side-by-side or for positioning two desktop speakers 600mm apart from a central audio source.

The 3.2mm diameter cable uses a 10-strand 0.10mm copper core per channel, providing adequate conductivity for low-impedance headphones and small active speakers without introducing audible signal loss over the 1.2m run. The cable weighs 45g, light enough to avoid putting strain on portable device headphone sockets when the cable is left dangling. The black PVC jacket provides basic abrasion protection for everyday use.

Frequently Asked

Does this split the audio to two headphones or combine two inputs?

This cable splits one stereo output into two stereo outputs. It allows two headphones, two speakers, or one headphone and one speaker to be connected to a single 3.5mm source output. It does not combine two inputs into one output.

Will using two headphones reduce the volume?

Yes. Connecting two headphones splits the amplifier power between them, which typically reduces volume on both outputs compared to using a single headphone. The degree of volume reduction depends on the headphone impedance and the output power of the source device.

Is this cable suitable for microphones?

No. This is a passive Y-cable for splitting line-level or headphone-level audio outputs. It is not designed for microphone-level signals and does not support TRRS (4-pole) connections used by smartphone headset microphones.
