Description

The Aspen is a 180cm-wide sideboard clad in hand-applied bone inlay laid in an asymmetrical diamond pattern across a white resin background. Two cupboard doors flank a central bank of three drawers, all faced with the same bone inlay work. The cabinet rests on a curved antique brass plinth that follows the rounded front corners and sides of the case.

Designed for dining rooms, hallways and living rooms where substantial storage meets decorative impact, the Aspen provides shelved cupboard space behind each door plus three full-width drawers for table linens, tableware or general household storage. The 45cm depth accommodates dinner plates, serving dishes and most standard dinnerware sets without projecting too far into the room. Each cupboard holds a single fixed shelf positioned mid-height inside the case.

Bone inlay is a traditional Indian decorative technique where small pieces of ethically sourced bone are hand-cut, shaped and set into channels carved in the MDF substrate, then surrounded by coloured resin which is sanded flat once cured. The asymmetrical diamond pattern used on the Aspen means the inlay pieces vary in size and orientation, creating visual texture across the broad front face. At 74.4kg the sideboard requires two people for safe positioning and will need wall anchoring in homes with children or pets. The brass plinth sits slightly recessed from the case edges, protecting the inlay from scuffs at floor level.

Frequently Asked

What is bone inlay and how is it applied?

Bone inlay is a traditional Indian craft where small pieces of ethically sourced bone are hand-cut and set into channels carved in an MDF substrate. Coloured resin fills the gaps between the bone pieces, then the entire surface is sanded flat and sealed. Each piece is handmade, so minor variations in pattern alignment and resin fill are normal.

How much storage does the Aspen provide?

Each of the two cupboards contains a single fixed shelf, giving two storage levels per side. The three central drawers run the full 180cm width of the cabinet internally, offering deep storage for linens, tableware or general household items.

Does the sideboard require assembly?

The Aspen typically arrives fully assembled. At 74.4kg it requires two people to move and position safely. The brass plinth is pre-attached. Wall anchoring is recommended in homes with children or pets.

How should bone inlay be cleaned and maintained?

Wipe with a soft, dry microfibre cloth to remove dust. For marks, use a barely-damp cloth with water only — avoid household sprays, polishes, alcohol-based cleaners or abrasive materials, which can damage the resin or dull the bone. Do not place hot items directly on the surface.
